Our opinion of the cruises at Halong Bay:

While Halong Bay is a must-visit destination, our experience left us the feeling that is overrated. Despite the breathtaking scenery during the cruise, we couldn’t shake the feeling that, compared to other natural wonders, it falls short. The abundance of cruises and crowds is also something to take into consideration.

As for the cruise, opting for a day trip proved a reasonable choice for us, providing an affordable and well-organized itinerary. If your budget permits it, the overnight cruise could also be a great choice since you have more time to explore the bay. As for the multi-day cruises they didn’t appeal to us due to their itineraries and pricing, but it also depends on what you are looking for. When it comes to the type of cruise, we will recommend you to go for the 4 or 5 star, since they will offer more activities and more options in the buffet. Once in the bay this place is beautiful, cruising around is just amazing, but the downside persists, the large amount of boats and people can decrease the peaceful experience you might seek in such place.
