Our opinion of Chiang Rai:

We had a fantastic time exploring Chiang Rai, despite the fact that many of the temples, especially the well-known ones, are modern architectural marvels more akin to art installations than traditional temples. Nevertheless, Chiang Rai is a treasure trove of cultural immersion and exploration, offering visitors a rich tapestry of Thai culture to delve into. We highly recommend allocating at least two full days to explore this captivating region. If time is limited, consider a day trip from Chiang Mai to experience the highlights of Chiang Rai’s unique charm and beauty.
